Description: Established in 1975, the Economic Community Of West African States (ECOWAS) is a regional group comprised of fifteen countries with a mandate to promote “cooperation and integration with the establishment of a West African economic union as an ultimate goal.” (See “Welcome Message” from the Secretariat’s web site). The web site provides links to the institutions and agencies of ECOWAS, including the ECOWAS Secretariat, the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID), the Court of Justice, and the West African Monetary Agency (WAMA). In addition, the web site links to databases related to trade issues.
