Description: The League of Nations Covenant was the first effort to create a framework through which states could promote international cooperation and peaceful resolution of disputes. Additionally, the treaty created an obligation for states to submit disputes to the League before resorting to acts of aggression. The treaty also contained provisions allowing states to impose economic sanctions against aggressor states.
