Description: The Peace of Westphalia was concluded at the end of the Thirty Years' War and indicates the beginning of a system of equal, sovereign, independent states. Some assert that the Peace of Westphalia also marks the beginning of international law. The treaty signifies a change from a system based on Christian government under the Pope to a system balancing the power of individual states. This treaty comprises several treaties including the Treaty of Peace of Osnabruck and the Treaty of Peace of Munster.
