Description: The Rio Declaration is one of five agreements coming out of the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (also called the "Earth Summit") in Rio de Janeiro in June 1992. Although a non-binding, or "soft law" instrument, the Rio Declaration sets forth important principles of international environmental law, especially sustainable development.
