Description: The Convention for the Conservation of Antarctic Seals was established because of the threat of commercial seal-hunting in the Antarctic. Because no commercial seal-hunting has been undertaken since the Convention was created, the Convention has never been implemented. Its provisions cover the six species of seals found in the Antarctic.
