Established in April 1995 by the Agreement on the Co-operation for the Sustainable Development of the Mekong River Basin signed by four countries sharing the Lower Mekong Basin: Cambodia, Lao PDR, Thailand and Viet Nam, the Mekong River Commission's objective is to cooperate between the four governments for joint management of Mekong's water and natural resources.
