Description: The Bretton Woods Agreements include the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The IMF was established to promote international monetary cooperation, to sustain exchange rate stability and to sustain balance of payments equilibrium among members. As of May 2003, the IMF has 184 member countries.

The Articles of Agreement direct how the IMF shall be operated and the transactions authorized under the IMF. The Articles were last amended, effective November 11, 1992.
