Title: Revised Treaty of Chaguaramas Establishing the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) including the CARICOM Single Market and Economy
Available From: http://www.caricom.org/jsp/community/revised_treaty-text.pdf
Conclusion Date: 2001-05-07
Entry Into Force Date: 2002-02-04
Description: The treaty is the successor to the 1973 Treaty of Chaguaramas which established the Caribbean Community and the CARICOM Single Market and Economy. In 1989, when the community decided to transform the Common Market into a single market and economy, the decision was made to revise the earlier treaty. Between 1993 and 2000, a series of nine protocols were produced by an Inter-Governmental Task Force for the purpose of amending the treaty. These protocols were later combined to product the revised treaty.
The Revised Treaty creates the framework for the removal of legal, regulatory and technical barriers to the movement of factors of production and of goods and services withine CARICOM.
Legal Citation: 2259 UNTS 293
