The Torture Convention is one of the primary UN human rights instruments. This treaty codified the process to combat torture and established the monitoring body, the Committee Against Torture (CAT). The Committee ensures that the Convention is observed and implemented.
The version of the instrument available from the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights web site also provides access to ratification information, declarations and reservations, and a link to the monitoring body. The document is also available in PDF. |
