Description: |
In 1947, the General Assembly requested the International Law Commission (ILC) to formulate the principles of international law recognized in the Charter and Judgment of the Nurnberg Tribunal and to prepare a Code of Offences Against the Peace and Security of Mankind, thus explicitly linking the Nurnberg Principles to the Draft Code of Offences. GA Res. 177 (II) (1947/11/21). The ILC site includes the text, analytical guide, and commentaries of the ILC Report to the General Assembly on the Draft Code of Offences. By Resolution, GA res. 897 (IX) (1954/12/04), the General Assembly postponed consideration of the Draft Code until further work could be done on the definition of aggression. In 1996, after several decades of work, the 1996 Draft Code of Crimes Against the Peace and Security of Mankind, was adopted by the ILC and submitted to the General Assembly for consideration. |
