Description: The Athens Convention establishes rules regarding liability for damages suffered by passengers carried on a seagoing vessel. It makes carriers liable for damage or loss suffered by a passenger during the course of the carriage, if the damage or loss was due to the fault or neglect of the carrier. The Convention further establishes monetary limits to liability, and permits carriers to limit their liability under certain conditions.
