Description: This Convention, known as the "Hague Rules," was the first multilateral treaty to establish rules for carriage of goods by sea. Together with the Visby Amendments (Protocol to Amend the International Convention for the Unification of Certain Rules of Law Relating to Bills of Lading), the Hague Rules still constitute the framework of international law for this subject.
