| Description: | This international agreement establishes a legal order for outer space. It contains provisions establishing the freedom of all states to explore and use space; preventing national appropriation and the placement of nuclear weapons or other weapons of mass destruction in space; restricting use of the Moon and other celestial bodies to peaceful purposes; establishing state responsibility for governmental and non-governmental activities, and liability for damage caused by states� space objects; and calling on states to avoid contamination of space and celestial bodies. |
