Description: This protocol to the Vienna Convention provides a timeline for phasing out the production and consumption of specifically-named compounds that deplete ozone in the stratosphere. These compounds include chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), halons, carbon tetrachloride, and methyl chloroform. The Montreal Protocol is generally viewed as adding "teeth" to the more general Vienna Convention. The Protocol has been amended and adjusted numerous time.s
