|Description:||This international agreement facilitates the development of domestic policies and legislation to protect wetlands while promoting their "wise use." The agreement provides for a List of Wetlands of International Importance (the List) as designated by the Member States. Each State must designate at least one wetland for inclusion in the List.
The Ramsar Convention on Wetlands website contains information about the Convention, as well as amending documents, ratification information, the List, and the Contracting Parties.
