Description: The New York Convention applies to the recognition and enforcement of foreign arbitral awards and arbitration agreements. The Convention creates an environment that enhances the effectiveness of arbitration in the international arena. Over 130 countries to date have ratified the Convention. The New York Convention is promoted by UNCITRAL, the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law.
