Description: The 1970 Hijacking Convention prohibits unlawful acts of seizure or exercise of control of aircraft. It requires parties to the convention to make hijackings punishable by "severe penalties;" to either extradite the offender or submit the case for prosecution; and to assist each other in connection with criminal proceedings brought under the convention.
