| Description: | This Inter-American convention focuses on the protection of all persons from enforced disappearance. It also states that countries should punish those who commit or attempt to commit the crime of forced disappearance of persons. The countries should also cooperate with one another to prevent, punish, and eliminate this crime. Furthermore, countries should take legislative, administrative, and judicial action to comply with the commitments undertaken in the convention. Information about signatory countries and ratification information is also available on the web site. |
