In addition to establishing peace between Turkey and "the British Empire, France, Italy, Japan, Greece, Roumania and the Serb-Croat-Slovene State" (Art. I), the Treaty of Lausanne included numerous articles establishing the nationalities of individuals residing in territories whose boundaries were defined in the Treaty. (Sec. II.) The Treaty further provided for the protection of non-Muslim minorities resident in Turkey. (Sec. III.)
