Description: The International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT) was originally established in 1926 as an auxiliary organ of the League of Nations. UNIDROIT was “re-established in 1940 on the basis of a multilateral agreement, the UNIDROIT Statute.” (See “About UNIDROIT”). The Statute articulates the methods and activities to be undertaken in the pursuit of uniform rules of private law, as well as the organizational structure and governance of UNIDROIT.
