| Description: | The Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) is one of the most important women's human rights conventions. It was adopted and opened for signature by General Assembly resolution 34/180 of December 18, 1979. This convention "defines what constitutes discrimination against women and sets up an agenda for national action to end such discrimination" (UN WomenWatch web site). The web site provides the text of the convention as well as ratification information and any declarations and reservations by States parties to the treaty. |
