Description: The World Heritage Convention establishes the World Heritage List, an enumeration of cultural (i.e., man-made) and natural properties identified by the Party States for special national and international protection. Party States may request international assistance with their efforts to protect their cultural heritage from the Intergovernmental Committee for the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage, called the World Heritage Committee. The Convention defines cultural heritage to include architectural, technological, and monumental masterpieces of human creative genius, as well as other material objects providing evidence of cultural traditional achievement and significance.
