The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) was adopted by the UN General Assembly on December 10, 1948. The rights and obligations enumerated in the United Nations Charter were codified in the UDHR. This was the first instrument to really articulate the fundamental rights and freedoms of all people.
