Description: The purpose of this Convention is "to determine the international jurisdiction of their courts, to facilitate recognition and to introduce an expeditious procedure for securing the enforcement of judgments, authentic instruments and court settlements." (from the preamble of the Convention) This Convention extended the rules on jurisdiction and the enforcement of judgments that used to be laid down in the "Brussels Convention" beyond the boundaries of the European Union. The site of this Convention includes all three protocols.
