Description: The Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) "administers arbitration, conciliation and fact finding in disputes involving various combinations of states, private parties and intergovernmental organizations." (PCA web site, "General Information" section). Under the "Recent and Pending Cases" section, information is provided on the Eritrea-Ethiopia Claims Commission. The Eritrea-Ethiopia Claims Commission was established in 2000 as an independent body with the mandate of arbitrating all claims of injury resulting from violations of international humanitarian law during the conflict between the two parties. The web site provides the decisions of the Commission, the partial awards adjudicated, and the progress reports of the Secretary-General of the United Nations (progress reports available in PDF format). The original establishing agreement and the rules of procedure of the commission are also linked.
